Altano Vinhas Próprias Red 2014
This Altano Douro red wine is made by the Symington family, entirely from grapes grown in their own vineyards, located along the length of the Douro Valley of Northern Portugal. The family is now into its fifth generation of Douro winemakers, although its involvement with the wines of the Douro can be traced back 14 generations to the mid 17th Century. The grape origin is exclusively from Symington family owned vineyards, principally located in the prime Cima Corgo and Douro Superior (Vilariça) sub-regions of the Douro Valley. Vinification In stainless steel vats with pumping over and a soft maceration at low temperatures (23-24ºC) in order to extract color and aromas, limiting tannin extraction, resulting in an aromatic, full and fruity, easy to drink wine. A significant proportion of the final lot is matured in used French and American oak barrels of 400 liters.
Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca
Ideal for every day, informal drinking at home with family or with friends, a great wine to relax and unwind. Pairs well with a wide variety of dishes. Altano reflects its Douro origins perfectly: generous aromas of wildflowers (rockrose and lavender); full-bodied structure with fresh and assertive fruit (plums and black cherries); spicy, peppery tones, all seamlessly held together.
