Offley Rosé Port

It is created following the traditional winemaking method used for rosé wines. Hand-picked red grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and pressed immediately to avoid prolonged contact with the skins where color concentrates, which originates a rose-colored juice must. A gentle decantation follows to separate the larger particles and clarify the must before it undergoes cold-fermentation. Just like in any other Porto Wine, fermentation is stopped by the addition of distilled wine alcohol or brandy, which results in a fortified wine. The wine stays in the Douro warehouses for the Winter, after which is transferred to the cellars of V.N.Gaia, where it evolves in stainless steel vats in order to maintain its initial freshness and avoid intense oxidation. Carefully monitored and tasted, the wine evolves until its ideal maturation point, and the final wine is cold-stabilised before bottling.
